Heat treatment in atmosphere consists in the heat treatment process of a metal workpiece structure accomplished in a specific atmosphere with low oxygen content to protect it against oxidation and enhance its mechanical properties. This results in greater resistance to wear and high quality end products and includes processes such as carbonitriding and cementation.
